NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting released the list of films selected for the prestigious and popular Indian Panorama section of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2020 here on Saturday.
The 51st edition of IFFI is scheduled for January 16 to 24 in Goa.
While the feature film segment has 23 films in 13 languages, the non-feature section has 20 entries.
Of the 23 feature films, Malayalam language cinema tops the table with five films followed by Marathi and Hindi with three entries each while Bengali and Tamil films have been in the third position with two films each in the Panorama.
The other language films represented in the Panorama with one entry each are Assamese, Chhattisgarhi, English, Kannada, Manipuri, Odia, Sanskrit and Telugu.
The 12-member feature film Jury selected the 23 films from a wide pool of 183 entries.
The Jury was headed by John Mathew Matthan while the other members included Dominic Sangma, Jadumoni Dutta, Kala Master, Kumar Sohoni, Rama Vij, Ramamurthy B, Sanghamitra Chaudhuri, Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, Satinder Mohan, Sudhakar Vasantha, T Prasanna Kumar and U Radhakrishnan.
Hindi movie Saand Ki Aankh directed by Tushar Hiranandani has been selected as the opening film of the Indian Panorama.
The feature films in Indian Panorama include Bridge (Assamese language, directed by Kripal Kalita), Avijatrik (Bengali, Subhrajit Mitra), Brahma Jane Gopon Kommoti, (Bengali, Aritra Mukherjee), A Dog And His Man (Chattisgarhi, Siddharth Tripathy), Up & Up, (English, Govind Nihalani), Aavartan (Hindi, Durba Sahay), Saand Ki Aankh (Hindi, Tushar Hiranandani) and Pinki Elli (Kannada, Prithvi Konanur).
The list also includes Safe (Malayalam, Pradeep Kalipurayath), Trance (Malayalam, Anwar Rasheed), Kettiyolaanu Ente Malakha (Malayalam, Nissam Basheer), Thahira (Malayalam, Siddk Paravoor), Eigi Kona (Manipuri, Bobby Wahengbam), June (Marathi, Vaibhav Khisti and Suhrud Godbole, Prawaas (Marathi, Shashank Udapurkar), Karkhanisanchi Waari (Marathi, Mangesh Joshi), Kalira Atita (Odia, Nila Madhab Panda), Namo (Sanskrit, Vijeesh Mani), Thaen (Tamil, Ganesh Vinayakan), Gatham (Telugu, Kiran Kondamadugula).
The three mainstream films are Asuran in Tamil directed by Vetri Maaran, Malayalam film Kappela, directed by Muhammed Musthafa and Nitesh Tiwary directed Hindi film Chhichhore.
