Welcoming the Supreme court’s decision for mediation to amicably settle the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute, Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid on Friday said that mediation in Ayodhya can show path to shared destiny of Hindus and Muslims.
In a post on social media, Mr Khurshid said, ”The Supreme Court has opened historic opportunity for us Indians to reaffirm the path of togetherness and harmony. Mediation in Ayodhya matter can show the path to the shared destiny of Hindus and Muslims. No winner-loser syndrome only winners: Indians and India.’’
The Supreme court on Friday appointed a three-member panel for mediation in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute.
The panel will be headed by Justice (Retd) FM Kalifulla and also comprise spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and senior advocate Sriram Panchu.
The Top court said mediation proceedings should be held on-camera. It said the mediation process has to start within four weeks and to be completed within eight weeks. It also said that the reporting of the mediation proceedings in media will be banned.
