The stage is set after the announcement of the poll schedules by the Election Commission of India on Sunday.The general elections are going to be held in seven phases all over India with the first phase of polling starting on April 11.And the counting is scheduled on May 23. Addressing the media the CEC Sunil Arora made the announcements at Vigyan Bhavan today.
Describing the election as largest festival of democracy Arora said that, in the first phase 91 constituencies will go to polls spread across 20 states and on April 18 , 97 constituencies will go to polls spread across 13 states, on April 23 71 will go to polls in 9 states , on April 29 51 constituencies spread over 7 states shall go to votes, on May 6, 59 constituencies in 7 states, on 12th May, in 59 constituencies spread over eight states on 19th of May.
Odisha will go to polls April 11, April 18, April 23 and 29th April.
About 900 million voters, up from 814.5 million in 2014 is what the CEC informed, will go to cast their franchise. The final counting is on May 23 2019.
