97th Academy Awards concluded on Sunday night with several surprises and notable victories.  Academy Awards saw “Anora” win five Oscars, including Best Picture, while “The Brutalist” won three. Other winners include “Dune: Part Two” and “Flow.”

won Best Actress, while

Sean Baker

Took home awards for Best Director, Original Screenplay, and Film Editing. The film also won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, making it the fourth film in history to win the highest honor at both events.

The epic film

“The Brutalist”

Won three Oscars, including Best Actor for Adrian Brody, Best Cinematography for Lol Crawley, and Best Original Score for Daniel Blumberg. Brody secured his second Best Actor award, following his win in 2002 for The Pianist.

The political thriller

“Conclave”

Won Best Adapted Screenplay. The Spanish-language musical thriller Emilia Pérez earned two Oscars: Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña and Best Original Song.

The sci-fi epic

“Dune: Part Two,”

The sequel to 2021’s “Dune,” earned awards for Best Sound and Best Visual Effects.

In animation,

“Flow”

Won Best Animated Feature, marking Latvia’s first Academy Award. Meanwhile,

“In the Shadow of the Cypress”

Won Best Animated Short.

In documentary categories,

“The Only Girl in the Orchestra”

Won Best Documentary Short, while

“No Other Land”

Won Best Documentary Feature.

The fantasy film

“Wicked”
