Amrita School of Dentistry marked its third annual Research Day, centering around the theme “Oral Health: Bench to Chair – Evidence Matters.” The event brought together esteemed faculty members, students, and distinguished guests to emphasize the role of research in advancing oral healthcare.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Harikrishna Varma P.R, Acting Director of the Biomedical Wing at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of integrating research into clinical practice.
The event witnessed an insightful presentation by Dr. Chandrashekar J, Research Head of the School of Dentistry, who provided updates on the institution’s recent research progress. Dr. Balagopal Varma, Principal of Amrita School of Dentistry, underscored the school’s commitment to fostering a robust research culture.
A key highlight of the event was the recognition of academic excellence, where faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and PhD scholars were felicitated for their research contributions. Certificates of appreciation were awarded for achievements such as travel grants, best poster presentations at state conferences, and publications in Q1 journals.
The event also saw a series of competitions aimed at encouraging research and intellectual engagement. A Research Idea Incubator provided a platform for students to present innovative ideas, while a Debate Competition sparked discussions on the roles of researchers and clinicians in shaping healthcare.
A Scientific Poster Competition featured 72 participants showcasing their research findings. Additionally, a Table Clinic exhibition demonstrated key research and clinical advancements, and a Quiz Competition tested participants’ knowledge across various domains. Creativity took center stage in a Reel Making Competition, where participants visually depicted the “Journey of a Researcher.”
The event concluded with the announcement of competition winners, celebrating their contributions to scientific inquiry and innovation. Research Day 2025 reinforced the institution’s dedication to evidence-based dentistry and academic excellence, further bridging the gap between research and clinical application. Amrita School of Dentistry continues to inspire the next generation of researchers and practitioners to advance oral healthcare through scientific exploration and discovery.
