MUJ Strengthens Community Ties: In a significant stride towards strengthening educational infrastructure and promoting hygiene standards, a new Mathematics Laboratory and freshly constructed separate toilet blocks for boys and girls were inaugurated on Saturday at Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Begas. Another Mathematics lab is created in the Govt. High School Dehmi Kalan too. The initiative was carried out under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of the Manipal Foundation.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr. Nitu Bhatnagar, Provost, Manipal University Jaipur, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. Addressing students, teachers, and community members, Dr. Bhatnagar highlighted the importance of creating an environment conducive to both learning and well-being. “Education must go hand-in-hand with health and dignity. This initiative reflects our commitment to both,” she remarked. Adding to the significance of the event, Brig. Ripu Sudan, Director General, Services & Administration, MUJ, and Col. Amit Agarwal, Director-Purchase, MUJ, were also present. Dr. Poonam Yadav, Principal, Govt. High School Begas welcomed all to the event.
The event drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and local villagers. A key feature of the day was the distribution of reusable sanitary pads, aimed at raising awareness about menstrual hygiene and addressing taboos associated with the subject. The initiative extended beyond Begas, with sanitary pads also distributed to students at Government High School, Thikariya and Government High School, Dehami Kalan. In both these high schools, toilet blocks are also constructed by MUJ for the students.
Adding to the vibrancy of the occasion, the team from Radio Manipal Jaipur 90.8 FM, the community radio station of Manipal University Jaipur, engaged attendees with interactive activities. The station has been actively contributing to educational, social, and scientific awareness initiatives within the local community.
Representatives from the Manipal Foundation expressed gratitude to the school authorities, volunteers, and community members for their support and participation. They reaffirmed their commitment to continuing impactful initiatives aimed at fostering inclusive development and strengthening grassroots education. Dr. Poonam Yadav, Principal, Mahatma Gandhi Govt. High School, Begas expressed her gratitude to MUJ for its continued commitment to community development.
