Odia Film Lahari: After earning accolades at the Kolkata International Film Festival and being praised by critics and jurors alike, the Odia film ‘Lahari’ has added another feather to its cap. The film has been officially selected for screening at the upcoming Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM 2025), scheduled to take place next month in Australia.
Now in its 16th edition, the IFFM is celebrated for showcasing India’s cultural richness and cinematic diversity to global audiences. This year, renowned Bollywood actor Aamir Khan will attend as the chief guest. What sets Lahari apart is its representation of regional cinema and Odisha’s storytelling excellence on an international stage—making this recognition a proud moment for the state.
Directed by internationally acclaimed and National Award-winning filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharyya, the film has been produced by Jhilik Bhattacharjee, a noted young producer from Odisha. The cast includes Choudhury Jayprakash Das, Choudhury Bikash Das, Smruti Mahala, Deepanwita Das Mahapatra, Sushant Mishra, Swastik Choudhury, and Jane Doyere, among others.
Music is composed by Kishalay Ray, with vocals by Gaurav Anand and Navya Jaity, while sound design is helmed by Adip Singh Manik. Besides directing, Amartya Bhattacharyya has also handled the story, lyrics, choreography, and editing, showcasing his multifaceted artistry. The film is presented by Jhilik Motion Pictures.
