First Bamboo Based Bio Refinery: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated India’s first bamboo-based bio-refinery in Golaghat district, marking a significant step towards strengthening the country’s energy self-reliance. Addressing a massive public rally on the occasion, the Prime Minister said India is on a mission to become Atmanirbhar in the energy sector and reduce dependence on foreign fuels.

Highlighting the government’s initiatives, Mr. Modi said India is among the top five nations in solar energy and will continue to harness deepwater energy resources. He emphasized that the new bio-ethanol plant is a milestone in advancing the nation’s energy independence.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of a polypropylene unit at the refinery.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Modi laid the foundation stones of Darrang Medical College, a Nursing College, and a GNM School in Darrang district. He also virtually launched the construction of a new bridge over the Brahmaputra River, connecting Guwahati’s Narengi and Darrang’s Kuruwa, along with the Guwahati Ring Road project.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri were among those present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister will depart for Kolkata later this evening from Jorhat Airport after concluding his engagements in Assam.
