ECI to Introduce Colour Photographs: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised guidelines under Rule 49B of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, introducing significant changes in the design and printing of EVM ballot papers to enhance clarity and voter convenience.
For the first time, colour photographs of candidates will appear on EVM ballot papers, beginning with the upcoming Bihar elections. The candidate’s face will occupy three-fourths of the allotted photo space for improved visibility.
Other key features include:
Serial numbers of candidates/NOTA in the international form of Indian numerals, printed in 30-point bold font.
Uniform font type and size for all names to ensure readability.
Ballot papers printed on 70 GSM paper.
Pink-coloured ballot papers (with specified RGB values) for Assembly Elections.
This initiative is part of the 28 reforms undertaken by the ECI in the last six months to streamline election processes and enhance voter experience.
