All India Railways Bridge Championship: The 47th All India Railways Bridge Championship, hosted by East Coast Railway at the Railway Indoor Stadium, Mancheswar, from 17th to 19th November 2025, concluded today with great enthusiasm, competitive spirit and outstanding performances by players and teams from across Indian Railways.

Organised for the first time by East Coast Railway on behalf of the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), the championship showcased mind and strategy-based sporting excellence and brought together some of India’s finest bridge talents. At the valedictory ceremony, Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, East Coast Railway, distributed the prizes to the winners of the championship.

South Eastern Railway delivered a remarkable performance by securing the top position in the Pair Event, where the duo of Sandip Dutta and Wrik Chakraborty finished first with an impressive score of 51-plus points. In the Board-A Match, South Eastern Railway once again emerged champions with a commanding 79 points, demonstrating superior strategy and consistent play throughout the contest. In the Team Championship, Eastern Railway clinched the top honour with 49.76 points.

Teams from Eastern Railway, South Eastern Railway, Metro Railway, Central Railway and East Coast Railway participated in the three-day event, which featured some of the country’s most celebrated bridge players. Among the competitors were several national-level athletes such as Sumit Mukherjee, Debabrata Majumder, Sagnik Roy, Gopinath Manna, Sayantan Kusuri and Sandeep Datta, many of whom have represented India at major international tournaments including the Asian Games, Commonwealth Championships and the World Cup. Their participation added prominence and elevated the standard of the championship.

By successfully hosting both the inaugural and concluding events of this prestigious national championship, East Coast Railway has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sporting excellence, nurturing talent. The event was supported by ECORSA, with the presence and guidance of Shri Hemant Kagra, President, ECORSA, ensuring its smooth and efficient conduct.
