Union Budget 2026: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Odisha State Council has welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27 presented today in Parliament by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, terming it a forward-looking and growth-oriented budget that will significantly benefit Odisha across manufacturing, services, tourism, and skill development.

In the Live Budget Viewing Session organised at Bhubaneswar, Mr Sashi Sekhar Mohanty, Past Chairman, CII Odisha State Council and CEO & Managing Director, Essar Minmet Limited, said, “The Union Budget 2026–27 brings multiple benefits for Odisha. The focus on semiconductors and the development of National Waterways in the state has significantly enhanced Odisha’s prominence at the national level. This budget will further strengthen the country’s economy and support India’s journey towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy in the coming years.”

Dr. Pradipta Mohanty, Immediate Past Chairman, CII Odisha State Council and Chairman, SNM Group, lauded that the strategic emphasis placed on manufacturing would act as a key driver of economic growth and employment generation. “Odisha stands to benefit immensely from the budget’s focus on manufacturing, services, tourism, and skill development. Strategic importance given to manufacturing will boost industrial growth and create large-scale employment. Specific initiatives such as the Cashew Processing and Coconut Promotion Schemes will directly support agro-based industries in the state. The emphasis on tourism, healthcare, and the service sector further strengthens Odisha’s development trajectory,” he said.

Expressing his satisfaction, Mr Manikant Naik, Member, CII Odisha State Council and MD, Tata Steel SEZ said, “The Union Budget presents a forward-looking roadmap for India’s economic growth, with a strong emphasis on sustained economic expansion. The enhanced focus on capital expenditure reinforces the government’s commitment to boosting employment generation and strengthening the manufacturing ecosystem. For Odisha, targeted initiatives in inland waterways, rare earth sectors and tourism unlock immense potential, contributing significantly to both the state’s progress and the nation’s overall development.”

Mr Swayam Baral, Convenor, Startup and Innovation Panel, CII Odisha State Council and Managing Director, Swadesh Infra Marketing Pvt Ltd, described the budget as historic and reform driven. “I would like to thank Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman ji for this landmark budget, which builds on the two major reforms undertaken last year in Income Tax and Goods and Services Tax (GST). The Union Budget 2026–27 reinforces the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, making Indian corporates globally competitive. The enhanced focus on MSMEs will ensure improved liquidity and strengthen the backbone of the economy,” he stated.

Overall, CII Odisha believes that the Union Budget 2026–27 strikes the right balance between growth, reforms and inclusivity and will play a pivotal role in accelerating industrialisation, employment generation, and sustainable development in Odisha.
