GKCM Award Ceremony: The 32nd Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award Ceremony organized by the Odissi Dance Society in collaboration with Sri Sri University , Cuttack, continued its grand cultural program at Rabindra Mandap on the second evening.
The second evening began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests. Among the distinguished guests were renowned Odissi vocalist and scholar Guru Ramahari Das , founder of Mothers Public School, Bhubaneswar, Smt. Palli Patnaik , Vice Chancellor of Jagadguru Kripalu University, Cuttack, Prof. (Dr.) Ravi Narayan Satapathy , eminent classical and soft music vocalist Shri Parthasarathi “ Babu ” Panigrahi and Director of Creation and Dean of the Department of Arts , Communication and Indic Studies, Shri Sri University, Guru Ratant Mahapatra.
The evening’s musical programme began with a performance by Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, a renowned musician of the Senya Maihar Gharana , who beautifully integrated the Dhrupad , the technical and vocal elements in his music. The Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, this sarod maestro mesmerised the audience with his meditative and architecturally precise performance. He was supported by Shri Satyajit Talwalkar on tabla.
The second half of the evening was dedicated to a solo Odissi dance , which showcased the artistry , soul and beauty of acclaimed Odissi dancer Smt. Lipsa Satapathy. Her first production was Panchbhoot which was bound to the raga ragamalik and taal taalamalik with music composed by Guru Ramahari Das , taal composition by Guru Dhaneshwar Swain and dance arrangement by Guru Aruna Mohanty. Her second production was Devagandhari Pallavi with music composed by Guru Ramahari Das , taal composition by Guru Dhaneshwar Swain and dance arrangement by Guru Vichitrananda Swain.
Her final production was Odia Abhinay Jaalaan Laaj with music composed by Surmani Ramesh Chandra Das , taal composition by Guru Gangadhar Pradhan and dance arrangement by Guru Aruna Mohanty. He was assisted by Shri Rupak Kumar Parida on the vocals , Shri Agnimitra Behera on the flute , Shri Soumya Ranjan Joshi on the flute , Shri Sitakant Jena on the mardal and Rohit Pradhan on the manjira. The festival was planned by Guru Ratkant Mahapatra and executed by Shri Deviprasad Mishra. The event was conducted by Dr. Mrutyunjaya Rath.
