ECoR Drinking Water Quality Monitoring Intensified Across Divisions

ECoR Drinking Water Quality

ECoR Drinking Water Quality: East Coast Railway has intensified its efforts to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic drinking water at railway stations and other railway premises through regular water quality monitoring and timely corrective measures.

During the water quality monitoring drive conducted from September 25 to October 14, 2026, ECoR carried out extensive testing across its three divisions—Khurda Road, Sambalpur and Rayagada. The monitoring covered residual chlorine levels, bacteriological parameters and chemical composition of drinking water to ensure compliance with prescribed quality standards.

During this period, a total of 1,230 residual chlorine tests were conducted across the three divisions and results were found satisfactory and compliant. ECoR also conducted 133 bacteriological tests, covering 65 samples in Khurda Road Division, 43 in Sambalpur Division and 25 in Rayagada Division. All samples were found satisfactory, with no unsatisfactory bacteriological results reported during the monitoring period.

In addition, 28 chemical analysis tests were conducted in Khurda Road and Sambalpur divisions. All 15 samples tested in Khurda Road Division were found satisfactory, while the results of the 13 samples tested in Sambalpur Division were under evaluation. No chemical analysis tests were reported for Rayagada Division during this period.

East Coast Railway continues to undertake regular water quality inspections, repeat testing wherever necessary and prompt remedial action to address any deviations. These measures reflect ECoR’s commitment to maintaining safe drinking water facilities and promoting better hygiene and sanitation standards across the railway network for the benefit of passengers and railway employees.
