The Chief Minister said that we have prior experience in managing floods and cyclones. Cyclones Dana and Montha were successfully managed. Along with this, several flood situations have also been successfully handled. Therefore, like every time, the State Government is fully prepared to achieve zero casualty this time too, the Chief Minister said. The Chief Minister stated that according to the Meteorological Department’s information, this cyclone will make landfall between North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha on the 28th. However, there is a higher probability of landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast.
Under its influence, heavy rainfall is expected in various districts of the State, and winds are likely to blow at speeds of about 80 to 90 km/h. In particular, South Odisha districts are likely to experience heavier rainfall and stronger winds.
Districts like Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri are expected to be the most affected. Other coastal districts are also likely to receive rainfall. It has been decided to keep schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centers closed in these 5 districts on the 28th and 29th.
