Odisha DGP asks SPs of LWE affected districts to take extra preparation during election

Odisha Director General of Police R P Sharma today directed the SPs of Left Wing Extremists affected Districts to make extra preparation for the smooth conduct of the election.

Reviewing the poll preparedness with senior Police officers and SPs of various districts through a video conferencing at State Police Headquarter, Cuttack Dr Sharma directed the SPs of Naxal affected districts to place their requirement of Helicopter and Satellite phone sets to ADGP (Operation) forthwith.

The DGP directed the SPs to ensure a free, fair, transparent, impartial and incident free election in the state, enforcement of model code of conduct and to strictly implement guidelines for security arrangements during the visit of VIPs and VVIPs.

He directed the SPs/DCPs in the State to make adequate preparation for the visit of VIPs and leave no stone unturned for an incident-free election.

All the SPs were instructed to display the list of the pending NBWs on the notice board of Police Station.

The DGP yesterday directed the SPs too, seize illegal firearms, illicit liquor and to execute NBWs.

In the review meeting, it was found that 217 illegal arms and weapons have been recovered from different parts of the state from February 1 last till date and 12,134 NBW have been executed or otherwise disposed of and 2,564 persons arrested under 110 CrPc during the period. (UNI)
