A local court of Gomati district has sentenced a 32 years old man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a nine years old girl from Taidu in July last year, police said today.
According to report, the convicted Lal Molsom Kaipeng of village Lungfung in Ampi had taken away the minor girl to a nearby jungle by force and raped her. After committing the crime, the convicted person had handed her over a 10 rupees note and warned her with threat if she disclosed it among villagers he would kill her.
However, after the victim parents came to know about the incident and filed a case in Taidu police station. Accordingly, police had started investigation, arrested the accused and submitted charge sheet. A total 19 witnesses have given statements for the victim.
After a long trail the court found him to be guilty under section 375(2) (1) and POSCO Act. The court convicted for 10 years rigorous imprisonment and penalty of Rs 25,000. Failure the payment he has to suffer another six months imprisonment.
