In a major setback to the producers of Mamata Banerjee Biopic, the Election commission (EC) on Wednesday ordered the removal of Banerjee’s biopic “Baghini’ trailer.
On EC banning Mamata Banerjee biopic ‘Baghini’ trailer, the chief minister tweeted, “What is all this nonsense being spread! I have nothing at all to do with any biopic.”
“ If some young people have collected stories and expressed themselves, that’s up to them. Not related to us. I am not Narendra Modi. Please do not compel me to file for defamation by spreading lies,” she added.
Earlier, opposition parties in West Bengal including the CPI(M) and the BJP has urged the Election Commission to ban the trailer of a movie, titled ‘Baghini: Bengal Tigress’, that is based on the life of West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee.
The BJP also moved the Supreme Court against the scheduled release of Mamata Banerjee’s biopic, which the producers say has been “inspired” by the life and struggles of the West Bengal Chief Minister.
