As part of extending a helping hand to the Cyclone Fani affected people in Odisha, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has come out in support for the gigantic task of restoring power distribution infrastructure in Odisha, which suffered massive damage in the extremely severe cyclonic storm.
The KSEB has decided to send a team of its officials and technical experts to Odisha. The decision in this regard was taken after V Venu, Principal Secretary (Disaster Management) held discussion with the KSEB and the Indian Railways following the instruction of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who also chairs the State Disaster Management Authority.
KSEB will sent a total of about 200 personnel to restore the damaged power infrastructure in Odisha. The first team comprising 30 members from Palakkad district of Kerala left to Odisha by train on Thrusday, a statement from KSEB said here.
More teams of the electricity department from other districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kannur will leave to Odisha in the coming days, the statement added.
Odisha had extended their support to Kerala after the devastating floods which hit the state in last August.
Earlier, KSEB had also taken up restoration of power distribution network in Tamil Nadu where Cyclone Gaja created widespread damage to the power distribution infrastructure. (UNI)
