The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), filed by a lawyer, seeking a detailed Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged brutal murder of Uttar Pradesh Bar Council President, Ms Darvesh Yadav.
“We are not inclined to entertain the petition filed by the petitioner. We dismiss the petition. Accordingly, the petition filed by the petitioner is disposed of,” the vacation bench of the apex court said, after hearing the petition filed by the woman lawyer, Indu Kaul.
The top court, however, granted the petitioner the liberty to approach the High Court for relief, if it wanted. “We accordingly direct the petitioner, to approach the jurisdictional High Court for relief.
The top court asked and questioned the petitioner whether the High Court was powerless to issue directions in the case.
The lawyer, Indu Kaul, who is the petitioner in the case, had moved the top court pleading for a detailed CBI investigation into the alleged murder of Ms Darvesh Yadav, the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council President.
Ms Kaul, in her petition, also sought a direction from the apex court that there should be a social security measure for women lawyers. She also said that that the security should be provided to women lawyers after the working hours throughout the country.
