At least 12 people were killed and more than 40 feared trapped after a four-storey building collapsed in Dongri area in Mumbai on Tuesday.According to sources, two bodies have been recovered so far.
The injured have been admitted in the government JJ hospital. A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been pressed into service for rescue work at the accident site.
So far, five people, including a child, have been rescued from the debris of the ‘Kesarbai’ building.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has set up a shelter at Imamwada Municipal Secondary Girls’ School for the affected.
Reports and eyewitnesses have claimed that most of the buildings are in dilapidated condition with very narrow lanes hampering the relief and rescue operations.
