Mexico international defender Edson Alvarez has joined Dutch champions Ajax from America, both clubs announced on Friday.
The 21-year-old center-back will begin training with his new teammates later this month after agreeing to a five-year deal.
“Ajax have reached an agreement with America for the transfer of Edson Alvarez. The move is subject to a medical and a number of other conditions,” the Amsterdam club said in a statement.
Alvarez made 86 Liga MX appearances for America after making his first-team debut in 2016.
He was a part of the Mexico team that won the CONCACAF Gold Cup this month and also represented El Tri at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
