It has become a very touchy issue as many pet owners, mainly of dogs, have started abandoning the pets over their alleged illicit relationship with dogs they are not supposed to be intimate with. Few such cases have come to the fore when some owners vehemently reacted to such acts of their pets and left them helpless on the streets which has become a problem for organisations like the People For Animal(PFA) to get them a safe shelter.
Members of animal rights activists group have alleged that the City Corporation had failed to ensure safety for pet dogs as a pomeranian female dog was recently abandoned by its owner citing an illicit relationship with neighbour’s dog.
Alleging that irresponsible pet owners are deteriorating the issues of street dogs, they said lack of enforcement helped people who are abandoning their pet go scot free.
Volunteer of People For Animals (PFA) Shameem Faruque on Friday said he rescued the pomeranian dog, abandoned by its owner for the illicit relationship.
Though efforts are on to trace the pet owner, several people are in touch with him showing interest to adopt the abandoned female dog.
Recently, a Labrador was abandoned at PTP Nagar here on this cause and it was rescued by PFA activists, showing an increasing trend of owners abandoning their pet animals.
It is by any consideration is an issue that requires greater attention of the society and the concerned authorities. On the ground of having illicit relationship with a neighbour’s dog.
