Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar tendered his resignation for the post on Monday following BJP government, headed by B S Yediyurappa won the confidence motion through voice vote today after the fall of JD(S)-Congress coalition government last week.
After conducting the trust vote on the floor of the Assembly, he handed over the resignation letter to Deputy Speaker Krishna Reddy immediately after announcing the confidence motion moved by Yediyurappa.
The House also passed the Finance Bill to ensure payment of salaries to government employees and withdrawal of funds for various other purposes. He also announced passing the Vote on Account for three months, motion moved by the new BJP government moved by the Chief Minister.
Ramesh Kumar thanked all the members, party leaders and government staff for their cooperation extended to him during his 14 months tenure. He was elected to the Speaker’s post after Congress-JDS Coalition government was formed on May 23-2018 following BJP Chief Minister
Yediyurappa resigned as he could not muster necessary strength despite the party had won 104 seats on its own in the Assembly election.
