The classes in as many as 3404 single shift government schools comprising of junior basic to higher secondary have been started at 0800 hrs from today on experimental basis to facilitate student of good leisure and pursue extra curricular activities after school hours.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said after adoption of CBSE syllabus in the schools, pre-poning the school hours at 0800 from exiting 1100 hrs would help over 2.36 lakh students to better utilization of afternoon in week days and get involved in
outdoor games. Also to help about 20,000 teachers of those schools to give time to families in the afternoon and evening.
“The students when join the class in the morning with fresh mind would yield better result and they would be able to return home by 1400 hrs. After lunch the student can take rest and in the afternoon go for outdoor games. There will be relaxed and got involved in study in the evening,” Nath stated.
The state government is working on to make the school in single shift and to start all the classes at 0800 hrs. In few areas where student strength is more and holding classes in two shifts, the department will enhance the infrastructure to run the school in single shift, Nath said adding that the huge school infrastructure would try to be used for vocational training purpose in the afternoon and evening.
The classes of I and II will continue till 1140 hrs, classes from III-V will continue till 1300 hrs and other up to 1340 hrs as per the norms. (UNI)
