India cancels Samjhauta Express after Pakistan suspension

India on Sunday cancelled Samjhauta Express days after Pakistan’s suspension of the train. ‘In consequent to Pakistan’s decision to cancel Samjhaouta Express 14607/14608 running between Lahore and Atari …….the link exp train number 14001/14002 running between Delhi and Atari also stand cancelled,’ said NR CPRO Deepak Kumar.

Pakistan suspended the Samjhauta Express and the Thar Express trains after India revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The Samjhauta Express is a bi-weekly train that runs between Delhi and Attari in India on Thursday and Monday and Lahore in Pakistan.

Pakistan authorities had raised concern related to security of the Pakistani railway staff in the wake of fresh development after the Centre decided to revoke Article 370. (UNI)
