The death toll in torrential rains, floods and landslides has risen to 123 in Kerala on Tuesday even as 19 people were still missing in various districts in the state since August 8.
As many as 13,286 people from 4,008 families are still staying in 113 relief camps in various districts. However, several returned to their homes after water receded at their places, official sources said. Sources said, 6 people died in Alappuzha district, 2 each in Kottayam and Kasaragod districts, 5 in Idukki, 9 each in Thrissur and Kannur, 58 in Malappuram, 17 in Kozhikode, 14 in Wayanad and 1 in Palakkad districts till this noon.
As many as 19 people — 13 from Malappuram and 5 from Wayanad and 1 from Kottayam — are still missing, sources added. Sources said 1,789 houses were fully damaged and 14,548 houses have been partially damaged in the floods. (UNI)
