Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced that birth anniversary of departed BJP leader and former Union Minister Arun Jaitley would be celebrated as state function every year to mark his vital contribution to the nation and the state. Mr Kumar, while paying rich tributes to former Union minister Mr Jaitely at a function organised here, said that he was not born in Bihar but his relationship with the state was strong and deep rooted. Mr Jaitley was greatly influenced with ideology of veteran socialist leader Jaiprakash Narain and he had actively participated in students movement launched by him in mid seventies, he added.
“We have decided to celebrate birth anniversary of the great leader Mr Jaitley as state function every year to enable younger generation to know about his immense contribution to Bihar in particular and the country in general,” Chief Minister said, adding that a statue of Mr Jaitley would also be installed in Bihar as a mark of respect to him for his contribution to the state.
During his tenure as Union Minister, Mr Jaitley had taken a number of decisions which immensely benefitted Bihar, he noted. “Mr Jaitley was in-charge of BJP affairs of Bihar during state assembly elections in February 2005 and Ocotber-November 2005 and he had played key role in making me Chief Minister of the state heading NDA government,” Mr Kumar said adding that he could never forget the role played by him in larger interest of Bihar.
Mr Jaitley was a man of strong conviction and he used to work sincerely with great dedication irrespective of even hostile circumstances being faced by him, he stated. (UNI)
