Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday attacked Narendra Modi government over the state of economy and asked ‘how long will the government manage headlines?’
Taking to Twitter, Priyanka, who is continuously criticising the ruling dispensation on the economic issues, said the BJP government should accept that there is a historic slowdown in the economy.
“Telling a lie hundred times does not make it true. BJP government should accept that there is a historic economic crisis in the country and the government should find solutions to resolve it”, the Congress general secretary said, adding “how long the government will manage headlines?”
Priyanka’s criticism came two days after the former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had lashed out at the Modi government and said that “the state of the economy today is deeply worrying”.
“The last quarter’s GDP growth rate of five per cent signals that we are in the midst of a prolonged slowdown. India has the potential to grow at a much faster rate but all round mismanagement by the Modi government has resulted in this slowdown”, Dr Singh had said.
The criticism by the opposition comes after the GDP growth rate fell to five per cent in the last quarter, ending June, a lowest in the last six years. (UNI)
