Ganpati procession starts in Pune, others parts in Maharashtra

The 11-day Ganpati celebration that were marked by vibrant colours and traditional enthusiasm came to an end on Anant Chaturdashi on Thursday, with devotees taking the Ganesh Idols to different places for immersion in Pune city and other parts to give a farewell amid chant of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, pudcha Varshi lovkar yaa”.

The immersion procession started with first-five ‘manache ganpati’ ( Revered Ganpaties)– Kasba Ganpati Mandal, Tambadi Jogeswari mandal, Guruji Talim Mandal, Tulshi baug mandal and Kesariwada mandal leading the procession from Lokmanya tilak Statue in Phule Mandai areas of the city. These big mandals have elaborated plans for immersions. The immersion procession will go from Laxmi road, Tilak Road, Kelkar road and Kumthekar Road.

The grand immersion procession started this morning from Phule Mandai after an Arti performed by city mayor Mukta Tilak. Several prominent “Dhol tasha” trouses were accompanying the immersion procession. Police said all-five-manache Ganpati (honoured Ganpati) have been immersed in Mulla and Muttha rivers. There are around 4000 registered mandals in Pune and immersion procession will likely to end by tomorrow evening. (UNI)
