As many as 44 bodies were recovered from a well in Jalisco in the outskirts of the city of Guadalajara, local authorities said. They were discovered earlier in September when local residents when local residents started complaining about the smell, the BBC reported.
According to them, the bodies were cut up and hidden in 119 black bags and they had to piece together different parts in order to identify them as many body parts still remain unidentified. A local organisation which searches for missing people has appealed to the government to send more specialists to assist with identification as the local forensic department was not fully equipped to complete the operation. Jalisco is the heartland of one of Mexico’s most violent drug gangs and this is the second major find of bodies in the state this year. (UNI)
