Bhubaneswar:The Odisha government on Sunday suspended CDMO in charge Sundergarh Dr Pankaj Patel for negligence in duty and issued a show-cause notice to Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan for lapses in implementing “Mo Sarkar “initiative.A random surprise checking was done in district headquarters hospital as part of successful implementation of “Mo sarkar “initiatives in the state.
As per reports, the CDMO in-charge Pankaj Patel was suspended by the Secretary of Transformation and Initiatives (5T) V K Pandian, who visited the District Headquarter Hospital and enquired from the patients about the functioning of the hospital.Sundargrah district collector was also served a show-cause notice for not implementing ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative.
During the visit to the Sundargarh District Headquarter Hospital, some patients told Mr Pandian that the medical tests were not being done in the hospital and food was not served regularly. Three teams comprising of officials of CMO and health department also visited District Headquarter Hospital of Puri, Dhenkanal and Jajpur today.
Patients feedback was taken and discussion with doctors on requirements to improve the health system was made. An officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister D S kutey and Additional secretary to the Chief Minister RitaRani Mohapatra visited Dhenkanal District Head Quarter Hospital.
Additional secretary to the Chief Minister Rupa Rosan Sahu joint secretary health Yamini Sarangi and Deputy secretary to the Chief Minister Manoj Swain visited Puri hospital.The Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister Dilip Mohanty, Joint Secretary Health Poonam Guha Kumar and joint secretary to the Chief Minister Aditya Mohapatra visited Jajpur District Headquarter hospital.
However, Sundargarh CDMO in-charge Pankaj Patel was placed under suspension for negligence in duty and District Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan was issued show cause for the lapses in implementing the Mo Sarkar programme which has been launched in the state across all the police stations and District Headquarter Hospitals from October 2.
Under the Mo Sarkar programme, the Chief Minister office is collecting feedback from the patients visiting Hospitals and people visiting the police stations. Meanwhile, the Odisha Medical Service Association(OMSA) has condemned the action of the government in suspending the Chief District Medical Officer Dr.Pankaj Patel without allowing him to present his views,
In a statement here OMSA said the state government should give a chance the senior doctor to present his views and points before taking any action against him in the implementation of “Mo Sarkar” programme.
