(UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam party national president N Chandrababu Naidu urged AICC president Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to oppose the triple Talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
The Chief Minister held a teleconference with the TDP MPs here on Monday. He told the TDP MPs that he had spoken with Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee today and asked them to oppose the Bill in the Rajya Sabha for which they agreed. The Chief Minister said that all Opposition parties should be united to oppose the triple Talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha. He asked TDP MPs to coordinate with the MPs of all other parties to oppose the triple Talaq Bill.
“Making triple Talaq unlawful without taking the apprehensions and doubts of Muslim elders, is detrimental to the secular fabric,” he opined. Mr Naidu said that Muslims should not be harassed in the name of Law. The insecurity among Muslims in the country is not good for integrity of the country.
