New Delhi: Residents of Jamia Nagar, Abul Fazal Enclave and Shaheen Bagh in the national capital took part in appreciating the Covid-19 warriors’ efforts to contain the epidemic on on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call on the day of ‘janata curfew’, here on Sunday, but also demanded roll back of new citizenship law (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR).
Several people came out on their terraces and balconies and raised slogans, like “CAA wapas lo, NPR wapas lo (Withdraw CAA and NPR).”
Jamia Nagar, the epicentre of the anti-CAA stir, witnessed complete shutdown during the ‘janata curfew’.
Hsbibul Hasan, a Jamia Nagar resident, said, the “janata curfew has been successful. We are ready for lockdown to control Covid-19 epidemic. But the government should now announce rollback of the CAA and the NPR process.”
Seven of the 11 Delhi districts have figured in the 80-district list announced by the Centre for complete lockdown. Only essential services wpuld be allowed in these districts.
The Delhi districts included Central Delhi, East Delhi, North Delhi, Northwest Delhi, Northeast Delhi, South Delhi and West Delhi.
