It is since little before the Holi when the deadly virus COVID-19 set its foot in India. But, as things are, as of now, India has, so far, emerged as one leader in not only controlling the virus spread in the country but, as preparations show, hopefully the people will be able to thwart any widespread invasion by the Corona.
With seven unfortunate deaths so far, one cannot grudge the credit to the Central and the state governments for taking urgently required measures like Social Distancing and continuing an awareness drive with reasonable success in a country with one hundred and thirty crore population, is no joke.
At a time when an influx of people coming from abroad remains an inalienable moral baggage for Indian government, what, of course, seems wanting is the fool-proof medical scrutiny like adequate testing centres and so on which still remains a concern country-wide.
However, the proactive role played by the Prime Minister just cannot be wished away and the steps taken by certain state heads were stand-apart by essence to unify the people for the dangers ahead.
Odisha CM emerged a front liner
Even much before few other states woke up to the virality, the chief minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, blew the whistle and announced a lockdown in certain districts till the 29th of this month.
In which the role of the administrative machinery on the ground, like the police and medical fraternity, emerged the front runners in the battle against the COVID-19.
Patnaik was way ahead of other state leaders to personally make the appeals on the exigencies for a battle-ready condition as a tertiary to a war against the virus.
Regardless of the criticism by the opposition parties, the role of the prime minister also remained a driving force made more potent by his ‘Janata Curfew’ call laying the foundations for the inevitable lockdown the country is going through now.
At a time when the menace of the COVID-19 has given a shock to most advanced nations like China, Italy, Germany, US and Iran etc, the control demonstrated by India is no less consoling so far.
‘Taali’ (claps} or bales but, as it appears, the toxic of the invisible enemy must concede defeat against the resolve of 1.30 cr Indians.
