In a fitting response to the challenges posed by the Coronavirus government of Odisha takes a big step ahead by making a state of the art hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Top government officials led by the 5T secretary V K Pandian, the team visited the campus-2 of the SOA Deemed to be University here to get a feel on the preparedness and facilities at the country’s biggest COVID-19 hospital.
The hospital which is getting ready is funded by the Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd(MCL) is being set up by the Institute of Medical Sciences & SUM hospital, SOA’s faculty of medical sciences.
Besides the 5T secretary, the team which visited the SOA campus was comprised of Development Commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and Principal Secretary in Agricultural department Saurav Garg.
The SOA founder Prof Manoranjan Nayak was present to brief the team about the preparedness and an update on the progress of the project. The officials were assured that the state-of-the=art hospital should be ready within 15 days.
Before this the state government had signed a tripartite agreement with IMS and SUM hospital and and MCL on Thursday last to make the hospital ready to cope with the situation.
While the MCL shall look after the funding part, the IMS and SUM hospital shall provide the expertise, critical care and other support.
