Popular Tamil actor Rajinikanth, who had already confirmed his entry into politics, but was yet to launch his own political party, on Sunday announced that his Rajini Makkal Mandram (fans club) will not contest the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu.
In a statement here, after holding a meeting with district office bearers of the mandram, he said he would not support any party in the coming elections.
He said his target was only Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and advised his fans to vote for those, who could find a permanent solution to the water problem of the state and provide a stable and sound government at the Centre.
He also appealed to all political parties not to use his name, his mandram’s name, his photo or their flag, during campaigning of the polls. (UNI)
