Mukesh Ambani Announces: In a landmark announcement at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025, Shri Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, pledged massive investments and initiatives for the eight North-Eastern states of India, underscoring the region’s pivotal role in India’s growth story.
Addressing a distinguished gathering, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ambani began by lauding the successful completion of Operation Sindoor, calling it a “shining testament to the Prime Minister’s steely resolve and the unmatched bravery of the armed forces.”
He also commended Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for spearheading what he called a “transformational platform” for the region.
“The eight states of North-East are rightly called Ashta Lakshmi. With the blessings of Lakshmi, the Goddess of Prosperity, the North-East is not just rising — it is roaring,” said Ambani.
Six Key Commitments by Reliance
Ambani unveiled six major commitments aimed at transforming the North-East into a model of inclusive growth and innovation:
Massive Investment Boost:
Reliance will more than double its past investments in the region, committing ₹75,000 crore over the next five years, creating over 2.5 million direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Digital Expansion with Jio:
With Jio already covering 90% of the region’s population and 5 million 5G subscribers, Ambani announced plans to double subscriber numbers this year and bring AI-driven solutions to schools, hospitals, enterprises, and homes.
Retail and Agricultural Empowerment:
Reliance Retail will scale up procurement of staples, fruits, and vegetables, set up FMCG factories, and promote the artisan economy across the region.
Green Energy and Biogas Revolution:
Aligning with the PM’s vision of “waste to wealth,” Reliance will set up 350 integrated Compressed Biogas plants and ramp up solar power generation.
Healthcare Innovation:
The Reliance Foundation has opened a 150-bed cancer hospital in Manipur, is collaborating with Mizoram University on breast cancer research, and has built a Genome Sequencing Lab in Guwahati, aiming to transform the region into a healthcare and research hub.
Olympic Sports Infrastructure:
Recognizing the North-East’s athletic potential, the Foundation will establish Olympic Training Centres in all eight states to nurture future Olympic medalists.
Ambani praised PM Modi’s efforts in integrating the North-East into the national development narrative: “You have brought the North-East from the periphery to the centre of India’s Developmental Map,” Ambani said. “Under your guidance, industry will work with Chief Ministers to make the North-East an inspiring model of progress, sustainability, prosperity, and unity.” Ambani said.
