ALTBalaji's new web series 'The Verdict-State Vs Nanavati' set to bring charm of Bombay to screens

The new ambitious project by ALTBalaji, The Verdict: State Vs Nanavati, is all set to bring the very essence of old Bombay in the most beautiful and aesthetic way possible.

The story, which is based on true events, bringing the real-life characters and an extremely realistic portrayal of them is certainly building up quite the hype for the web series, which is being deemed as the first period drama web series based on the real landmark case.

This series is based on the events which took place in 1959 Bombay when the city was basking in all its glory, shortly after India’s new found and long-awaited Independence.

The very essence of old Bombay has been captured and shown in the most beautiful and aesthetic way possible in this drama series. The old world charm, elegance, the ambience of the picturesque city in the 1950s and the remnants of a British Bombay have been held onto and presented in a very ornamental manner.

Directed by Shashant Shah, the 10-episode series is based on the real-life incident of 1959 and follows the trial of naval officer K.M. Nanavati who shot three bullets from his revolver at a businessman and later confessed his crime to the police.

Even after six decades the infamous story of K.M. Nanavati Vs. The state of Maharashtra is still one of the most sensational criminal cases in India and marks a landmark judgement in the history of India.

“Amongst others, we get to see the first look of Sumeet Vyas as Ram Jethmalani who was a lawyer. We also see Kubbra Sait essaying the role of Mamie Bhagwandas Ahuja who was an active socialite and a social worker.”

Angad Bedi is seen as Karl Jamshed Khandalavala who served in the Royal India Air Force during the second world war. He also used to practice law as a hobby and chose to defend a fellow Parsi and soldier, Kawas Nanavati, played by Manav Kaul, who was accused of shooting and killing Prem Ahuja.

The series is being hailed as one of a kind and the hard-hitting case which remains one of the most critical and controversial criminal cases of our country till date adds to the content-driven platform which OTT is becoming with each new release. (UNI)
