Bengal Govt to set up co-living spaces in Kolkata to attract IT professionals

In order to provide more affordable housing facilities to young IT professionals and entrepreneurs, thus making Kolkata more attractive for talent from across India as well as Bangladesh the West Bengal Government’s Information Technology (IT) Department is planning to construct co-living places in Kolkata in joint venture with private companies

The IT industry in Bengal is mostly congregated in the areas of Rajarhat and New Town on the outskirts of Kolkata.

With the steady increase in IT industry manpower in the metropolis (Infosys and Wipro have already been given permission to open up more campuses), the demand for co-living spaces is also on the rise.

The main aim of the State Government is to integrate co-living spaces with the co-working spaces available under the Silicon Valley Hub project in New Town, a flagship project of the government, which has a very bright future.

The Silicon Valley project plans to build a world-class ecosystem for cutting-edge technologies and innovation.

Companies such as Reliance Jio, TCS and Firstsource have already bought plots in the Silicon Valley Hub in New Town while several more have shown a lot of interest.  (UNI)
