Superstar Salman Khan’s latest blockbuster Bharat, which was released on Wednesday on the eve of Eid, has crossed the Rs.100 crore mark at the box office in just four days.

Bharat got a bumper opening at the box office on the first day earning Rs.42.30 crore despite the fact that the Indian cricket team played its first match at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on the same day.

On Thursday and Friday, Bharat maintained the collection of Rs.31 crore and Rs.22.20 with usual drops. On Saturday, the collection picked up as the film garnered Rs.26.50 crore, according to box office website boxofficecollection.in. After four days, Bharat has now already collected Rs.122 crore and may end the extended five-day weekend with around Rs.150 crore.

Bharat, which also stars Katrina Kaif, Jackie Shroff and Sunil Grover in supporting roles, is the 14th Salman Khan film to cross Rs.100 crore mark. According to film trade expert Taran Adarsh, with Bharat Salman has set another benchmark of highest number of films in ‘Rs.100 crore plus club’ in domestic box office among all top stars of Hindi films. This include three films in ‘Rs.300 crore plus club’ and two in ‘rs.200 crore plus club’ and nine ‘Rs.100 crore plus club’.

Though Bharat got mixed reviews from critics, some of whom said it was an old fashioned film without any soul, it was lapped up by the movie goers from the very first day. After watching the film, many described it as the “biggest family drama” of the year in social media.

Delivering big hits consistently, Khan has proved that he is the biggest crowd puller in India today, as demonstrated by the first day box office number of his films released in the last decade.

Though he has been among the top three stars of Hindi films – the other two being Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan – since early 2000, Salman Khan’s dream run started from Wanted in 2009 and continues till now. Since then, most of his films have been huge money spinners. None have flopped.

Even the films starring him like Jai Ho (2014) and Race 3 (2018) underperformed at the box office, they still managed to cross Rs.100 mark and earn good profits for the producers. Mark of a true superstar.
