West Bengal Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi will meet four major political parties – ruling TMC and Opposition parties BJP, Congress and CPI(M) in Raj Bhawan at 4 PM on Thursday in the wake of escalating violence across the state, particularly after May 19, the last day of Lok Sabha poll.

Raj Bhawan sources confirmed that Trinamool Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee, BJP president and MP Dilip Ghosh, Congress state president Somen Mitra and CPI(M) state secretary Surya Kanta Mishra have been invited to attend the joint meeting to be presided over by Mr Tripathi.

The Governor, who had been in New Delhi on Sunday, a day after three people were killed at Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas, had briefed the law and order situation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Union Home Ministry had also sent an advisory to the state government, expressing concern and sought action taken a report. The BJP has been accusing the TMC of unleashing a reign of terror immediately after Lok Sabha poll debacle and attacking the BJP workers across the state.

West Bengal BJP unit president Dilip Ghosh claimed that two BJP activists have been lynched and as many murdered, but their bodies have not been found yet.
He alleged criminals like Sk Shajahan, who led the carnage, has not been arrested so far and police are also siding with the perpetrators.  Ghosh said the state government should have taken the initiative.

“We welcome the decision. We have received  Tripathi’s letter. We would be attending tomorrow’s meeting,” he added. Sources said the TMC has agreed to send a representative for the all-party meet.
