Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s takedown on the hiking onion prices appear tasteless at a time when people all over the country keep struggling for the swollen edible bulb, seems incongruous.
She has , reportedly, told that, she does not consume onion so, the price hike does’nt affect her. It brings the reminiscences of Morarji Desai era, as the PM, when the tomato prices had shot up to the orbit, he had told that, don’t eat tomato and there ends the problem.
Instead going for a balanced answer the FM has sported a kind of taunt at millions of onion eaters. If she has any allergy towards onion or onion is not a part of her kitchen’s spice list, be it.
But the observation by the FM has come at a cost and she must be aware of that. By saying that, however casual the jibe may appear, she has painted a collage of confusions the political community is capable of.
It is not merely about onion but on myriad issues linked to the common man, the politicians at the centre keep looking for escape routes and simultaneously weave dreams of paradise for the people.
The NDA sometimes tries to give the impression that, it has come to power for forever. That is quite natural as an instinct nurtured by politicians and NDA is no exception. But getting down to tearing peoples’ mind to pieces through confusing excuses is not fair.
On the slowdown of economy, she said that, it’s all ok but there is nothing ‘ negative’ as being portrayed by some . On growing unemployment the NDA nurtures contrarian views and keep the larger mass ignorant thus, not allowing a situation when they cannot rise in protest.
You cannot have two contradictory excuses for the slowdown and expect the people to accept that logic. It is a situation where the NDA 2 has little choice other than keeping people from being conscious of the reality that, the country has a dash with pessimism as regards the economy.
Even, the BJP’s senior leader, Dr.Subramaniam Swamy, has endorsed the widespread impression over the economic slowdown and has predicted that, God save the economy if something is not done in a war footing.
People now a days have become conscious of many realities and the governments can no longer harvest latter’s helplessness for political ends.
