NALCO bags the first position in the 5th & 6th set of Eastern Region Export Excellence Award of FIEO

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) bagged the first position in seven categories at the 5th and 6th set of Eastern Region Export Excellence Awards organised by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).

The PSU won the Highest Foreign Exchange Earner-Eastern Region, Non MSME-Gold (2016-17), Top Exporter, Odisha, Non MSME-Gold (2016-17), Highest Foreign Exchange Earner-Eastern Region, Non MSME-Gold (2017-18), Top Exporter, Odisha-Gold (2017-18) at the awards function, here, last night.

In the special category for Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs Roma International got the Outstanding Women Entrepreneur, MSME-Gold (2016-17) and RKDS Exports Pvt. Ltd. for Outstanding Women Entrepreneur, Non MSME-Gold (2017-18).
Mortex (India) bagged Non MSME Gold awards for both years (2016-17 and 2017-18).
Gracing the occasion was Bharat Ratna former President Pranab Mukherjee who gave away the awards.

The Eastern Region Export Excellence Awards was constituted in 2014 to reward the top performing exporters of Eastern and N-E India and thereby giving due acknowledgement and recognition towards their contribution in the nations and regions foreign trade.

The share of Eastern and North Eastern India was a little over 5.5% of India’s exports in 2018-19, much below the potential which exist in the region. Bruce Bucknell, British Deputy High commissioner and a galaxy of other dignitaries and industry captains besides award winners were present. Speaking on the occasion Sushil Patwari, Regional Chairman-Eastern Region FIEO, stated, “This has been a most exhilarating evening for all of us in the Federation and the entire exporting community. ”

He expressed his profound gratitude to the Chief Guest Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee for his valuable presence at our award ceremony. He said,  Mukherjee is the first person and only one from the Eastern India to grace the office of the President of India from 2012-2017.

He, congratulated the Award winners and wish them all success in their multi-faceted business ventures. “By their excellent performances, they have become role models for the entire exporting fraternity,” said Mr Patwari.

“With such high performing exporters and facilitators in the country, he felt the day is not too far when India will be counted among the leading suppliers of quality goods and services to the world,” he added. He said that West Bengal has a very rich industrial base but needs to be modernized to make it fully export worthy. FIEO plans to request the Central Government to give special incentives for modernization of exporting industry in West Bengal, he said.

At the same time, he requested the State Government to consider making each district an export hub to realize the potential of districts and create gainful employment. West Bengal exported goods worth US $10 Bn in 2018-19 which should increase to US $20 Bn in next 3 years exploiting the opportunities in China and South East Asia. (UNI)
