Opening his campaign for Odisha at Paralakhemundi today, BJP President Amit Shah came down heavily on the state’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government for its alleged inefficiency, corruption, Jagannath temple ratna bhandar issue among others and urged the public to uproot the government in the upcoming polls.

“This is a corrupt and inefficient government in the state that has neglected western & central Odisha. Even after getting plenty of funds, they are unable to deliver meaningful progress. Corruption and inefficiency are its hallmarks. They are so engrossed in corruption that even Ratna Bhandar of Lord Jagannath is not safe here,” said Shah addressing the Vijay Sankalp Samabesh here.

Taking his criticism a step further, he took personal jibes at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and ridiculed him for his inability to speak the language of the state.

“It’s unfortunate that even after 19 years of rule in Odisha, Naveen babu can’t speak Odia without reading out from a script. How can someone solve your problems when he doesn’t even know your language,” he questioned.

He went on to advise the people to elect a CM that can understand the feelings & emotions of the denizens.

“I urge the people of Odisha to not repeat the same mistake by electing BJD once again. You have given 19 years to BJD & other parties too in the past. Give BJP a chance & in five years we will make Odisha the No. 1 state,” he said while urging the crowd to uproot the Naveen government from the State.

He also asked the voters to vote for BJP and Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and explained that fast progress is only attainable when the “double engine” governments of the same party at both state and center levels work in tandem.
