Cricket fan dies of cardiac arrest in Bengal immediately after Dhoni's run out in World Cup in England

An ardent cricket fan, identified as Srikanta Maity (30), a resident of Hooghly district, died of cardiac arrest immediately after M S Dhoni was run out by a throw from Martin Guptill during India-New Zealand first semifinal match at Manchester, England, on Wednesday evening.

The mishap happened at Sekenderpur under Khanakul, about 80 km east of Kolkata, when Maity was watching play live on his mobile phone in his cycle repairing shop, eye witnesses said as quoted by a local cable television.

He collapsed on the floor immediately after Dhoni was declared run out by the TV umpire as India were chasing Kiwis’ 239 runs in the 50-over match.

Local people took him to a nearby health clinic where the medics declared him brought dead.
