UP govt to give compulsory retirement to policemen above 50 yrs of age for their laxity

Facing wrath of chief minister Yogi Adityanath over dereliction of duty and laxity on the part of the policemen leading to law and order problem, Uttar Pradesh police has gone strict against the erring policemen and has issued circular to the district officials to identify such policemen over the age of 50 years to give them compulsory retirement.
After the opposition cornered the BJP government in the state over the law and order situation, Yogi had repeatedly said government would take stern action against the laxity of the policemen and will sack them if required.
In a circular to all the DGs, ADGs, IGs, DIGs,SPs and other departmental head , ADG ( establishment) Piyush Anand has sought the names of the policemen by June 30, who could be given compulsory retirement for their laxity.
The circular sent on June 21 last, says that under rule 56, there is a clause that after 50 years of age, government can give compulsory retirement to the policemen , for their laxity after a three months notice.
” All policemen, who have attained the age of 50 years on March 31,2019 comes under this preview and the list should be sent of the headquarters after screening them thoroughly,” the circular said.
