Cold wave sweeps Odisha with marginal rise in day temperature

Cold wave conditions continue to sweep  Odisha notwithstanding  the  temperature rising slightly in comparison to yesterday.

As many 19 places in the state recorded  minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius  as  against 20 places yesterday.

The minimum temperature also increased a bit today in several places.

But the cold wave conditions prevailed in  isolated places over the districts of Khurdha of South Coastal Odisha and Angul and  Bolangir districts of Interior Odisha.

The minimum temperature was below normal over North Odisha and appreciably below normal over South Odisha. The lowest minimum temperature of 4 degree Celsius  was recorded at Daringibadi in Kandhamal district followed by 4.5 degree Celsius in Phulbani.

Shallow fog has occurred at isolated places over the districts of Kandhamal of South Interior Odisha.

The places which recorded minimum temperature  below 10 degree Celsius are  Keonjhar (6.4), Angul and Koraput  (6.6 each) Sundargarh ,Bhawanipatna, Titlagarh and Sonepur 7 degree Celsius each.

The twin city of  Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also recorded below 10 degree Celsius.

The local meteorological department here predicted that the cold wave condition would continue to prevail in the state for next four to five days. (UNI)
