Hafiz Saeed arrest: Trump gives go-ahead

US warship destroys Iranian drone in Strait of Hormuz: Trump

US President Donald Trump reacted to the arrest of Mumbai 2008 terror attack mastermind and founder of militant organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, who was apprehended by Pakistan on Wednesday, with regards to a terror-funding case.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Trump posted, ‘After a ten year search, the so-called ‘mastermind’ of the Mumbai Terror attacks has been arrested in Pakistan. Great pressure has been exerted over the last two years to find him.’

Pakistan authorities arrested Saeed, while he was on his way to Gujranwala from Lahore and sent him to judicial remand. The Counter-Terrorism Department has been directed to complete the investigation and submit a charge sheet to the court.

Pakistan is under pressure from terror watchdog Financial Action Task Force, to curb the financing of militant groups. The FATF has put Pakistan under “grey list” for its failure in handling terrorism.
