(UNI) The deep depression over southeast Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 11 kmph during the past 6 hours and lay centred at 0530 hrs on Saturday over southwest & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal near latitude 9.0°North and longitude 85.5°East , about 470 km east-northeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 730 km east-southeast of Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and 930 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh).
India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin said It is very likely to intensify further into a Cyclonic Storm during the next 12 hours and ‘into a Severe Cyclonic Storm’ in the subsequent 24 hours.
It is very likely to move north-northwestwards and cross Andhra Pradesh coast ‘between Ongole and Kakinada’ during December 17 afternoon.
