After five days of BJP president Amit Shah’s roadshow in the state capital in support of his party candidate, Congress president Rahul Gandhi staged a road show for his party candidate from Patna Sahib Shatrughan Sinha in Patna on Thursday.

The roadshow, which started from near Moin-ul-Haque stadium concluded at Nala Road after passing through Premchand roundabout and Dinkar roundabout.

Congress supporters carrying party flags showered flowers on Gandhi, who also reciprocated the gesture by shaking hands with them. Thousands of people stood on the roadside to greet him and actor-turned-politician Sinha. “Modi may throw mud at us but we will only return love,” Gandhi said as he boarded a vehicle to campaign for Sinha.

He added that if voted to power the Congress would provide a government that would consider the people as masters.

Sinha’s wife Poonam Sinha, former union minister and senior party leader Tariq Anwar, former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay, leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejaswi Yadav and state Congress president Madan Mohan Jha accompanied Gandhi during the roadshow. Visibly moved by the solidarity of leaders from Mahagathbandhan, Sinha said that the turnout at Gandhi’s road show as much bigger than the one held by Shah a week ago.

Sinha is pitted against union minister and BJP candidate from Patna Sahib constituency Ravi Shankar Prasad. The polling will be held in the seventh and last phase on May 19.
